PGA TOUR Makes its Return to Castle Pines

For over two decades, this majestic Rocky Mountain golf course was a fixture on the PGA TOUR, hosting The International from 1986 to 2006. The event featured a distinctive Stableford scoring system, which encouraged aggressive play and rewarded risk-takers, consistently attracting many of the top names in professional golf. Designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus, Castle Pines will once again take center stage this year as it hosts the top 50 players at the 2024 BMW Championship, the penultimate event of the PGA TOUR's FedExCup Playoffs.

Stretching nearly 8,100 yards from the Championship tees, Castle Pines will be the longest course to ever host a PGA TOUR event when the world's best players tee off on August 22. However, the course's elevation at 6,500 feet above sea level allows golf balls to travel approximately 10% farther than they would at sea level, adding an extra layer of strategy to this formidable challenge.

The Best Day of Golf in America

In the late 1960s, a businessman named Jack Vickers moved to the Denver area. While exploring the surrounding landscapes, he discovered the land that would eventually become Castle Pines Golf Club. An avid golfer, Vickers envisioned transforming this picturesque terrain into a course that could rival the nation's best.

After acquiring the land, Vickers enlisted the legendary Jack Nicklaus to design the course. Castle Pines Golf Club officially opened its doors to members in 1981.

Today, the club is guided by the mantra of providing its members and visitors with "The Best Day of Golf in America." With its meticulously maintained conditions, elegant clubhouse, and world-class facilities, Castle Pines Golf Club is held in high esteem within the golfing community.

With it's pristine conditions and unbeatable amenities, it's easy to see why Castle Pines is "The Best Day of Golf in America."

Signature Hole

11th Hole - Par 3

For a course characterized by dramatic elevation changes, the 11th hole may be the most striking example. From the elevated tee box, golfers are treated to a breathtaking view of the Rocky Mountains rising above the pines in the distance, with the tee shot plunging over 60 feet downhill to a green guarded by a creek in front and bunkers on either side.

This hole presents one of the most challenging approach shots at Castle Pines. The steep downhill nature of the shot, combined with the need to account for altitude adjustments, makes club selection crucial.
