"I Just Love the Game"
Knightmare has been playing golf for nearly 30 years, having picked up the game at just ten years old. Like many, as the demands of life increased over the years, finding time to hit the course became more challenging.
"My GOLF+ journey really began during the COVID lockdowns," Knightmare, known as OG_KnightmareReaper in the game, shared. "We were locked down for five or six weeks, and all I wanted was to get out and play golf."
During this period, he was introduced to GOLF+ and quickly became hooked.
"It brought me the same joy and excitement that I was missing from real-world golf."
As a father with a young family, long five-hour rounds on the course are now a rarity. But through GOLF+, he's been able to keep his love for the game alive.
"I can hop in, play nine holes in 20 minutes, and not feel guilty about it."
His love for golf traces back to Harbour Town
For most golfers, there's a defining moment or event that sparks their passion for the game, and Knightmare is no exception. He recalls playing the classic Links 386 video game and being captivated by the iconic Lighthouse at Harbour Town.
"Seeing that lighthouse in the game was a really special moment for me," Knightmare shared. "It brought back memories and allowed me to relive where my love for golf truly began."
"It Just Scratches that Itch"
Like many other GOLF+ players, Knightmare finds that the joy and excitement of playing the game helps fill the void when he's unable to get out on the course.
"But the coolest part is that every night I get to play with my dad," Knightmare says. "He can't play as much anymore, but we can just put on the headsets and play together. That's really special to me."
Being in Australia, Knightmare acknowledges that he might never have the chance to play many of the top golf courses in the United States or around the world. However, the ability to immerse himself in these iconic destinations is something he says only GOLF+ can offer.
"I've Never Been a Part of a Community that is So Helpful."
As a moderator on the GOLF+ Discord channel, Knightmare is passionate about helping others enjoy the game.
"I love watching people progress, improve, and find joy in the game," he says.
