You asked. We listened! The most requested feature from our GOLF+ Community is now here, as Scramble is officially live. Read below for everything you need to know about the game's newest feature!
In Scramble, GOLF+ players can now play in teams of 2, 3 or 4 players.
What is a Scramble in Golf?
First thing's first - for those that may not play much golf in real life, a traditional "Scramble" is a popular team format where groups of 2, 3 or 4 golfers compete together to try and record the lowest score possible. Scrambles are particularly popular for group or charity outings where there is a wide range of skill level amongst the golfers.
Each player on the team will tee off, and then the team collectively decides which golfer's shot they will all play from for their second shot. This same process continues until someone from the team holes out.
Example - Hole 1
- Team 1 consists of Players A, B, C and D.
- Each player hits from the tee box and Player B's drive is chosen.
- Each player hits their second shot from Player B's driver location and Player C's shot that lands on the green is selected.
- Player A misses the putt from Player C's location and then Player B holes the putt.
- Team 1 score for Hole 1: 3
Playing Scramble in GOLF+
Scramble in GOLF+ operates under the traditional "Scramble" rules and is available now as a new format within Multiplayer. Teams can compete in their own games as teams of 2, 3 or 4 players, or compete against other teams in 2v2, 2v1 or 3v1 matches.
Team Captain
Each team will have a designated team captain, indicated by the small crown icon to the left of the player's avatar. The first player to join a team will be defaulted as the team captain. Team captain's will be responsible for establishing the team's "Turn Order" as well as selecting each shot that the team will play from next.
To change your team's captain, have the captain move to the opposite team and a new captain will be awarded. The previous captain can then rejoin the team.
Turn Order
Each team's "Turn Order" is assigned by the team captain prior to the start of the game. The "Turn Order" is the order in which each player on the team will take their shot, and can not be changed once the game has started.
Selecting Your Team's Shot
After each player on the team has taken their shot, the team captain will choose the shot that that the team will play from next. The course UI screen will display each player's location, lie type and proximity to the hole. A "recommended" shot will also be highlighted.
The captain can hover over any of the shots and select "Move to Ball" to teleport to the location of that shot or select the shot by pressing "Click & Hold".
Joining Scramble Games
Similar to other Multiplayer formats, GOLF+ players can create a Multiplayer Scramble lobby and invite their friends to play together. Players can also join Public Scramble games to be matched with random other players.
Players looking for 2v2 matches should look to join Public games with two players in them already.
