The first leg of the VR FedExCup Playoffs, presented by Mastercard, is complete. On the Pro Tour, TrailDawg clinched their first weekly tournament victory of 2024, narrowly defeating TopherJaims by just 2 strokes in the Pro Diamond Tier. On the Amateur side, terrytheturtle.889 edged out Ereischl by a single shot to claim the top spot in the Diamond Tier.
Announcing the 30 Entries into the VR FedExCup Playoffs Mastercard Moment Sweepstakes
Thirty of the 90 total entries for the VR FedExCup Playoffs Mastercard Moment Sweepstakes have now been claimed. Congratulations to these 30 players who delivered the Top 30 shots of the tournament, as determined by GOLF+ Strokes Gained data. After the three-week Playoff series concludes, one lucky winner will be randomly selected from the 90 total entries to enjoy a priceless 3-day/2-night experience at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational, including airfare and lodging for the winner and a guest.
Players are limited to one entry, so this week will bring 30 new entries from the VR BMW Championship at Castle Pines Golf Club.
The Grand Prize is available only to legal residents of the 50 U.S. states and are 18 years or older. Players ineligible for the Grand Prize are still eligible to win a secondary prize.
Comparing the VR Field to the PGA TOUR
An analysis of scoring data from the GOLF+ Diamond Pro tier and the PGA TOUR, where the top 70 players in the FedEx Cup Standings competed in the FedEx St. Jude Championship, reveals that TPC Southwind played almost identically for both groups. The scoring average for the PGA TOUR was about half a stroke lower than that of the GOLF+ Pro Tour's Diamond Tier.
Both the par-3 14th and the finishing par-4 18th were the two most challenging holes for both groups, while the par-5 16th hole was the easiest, offering ample scoring opportunities for both fields.
The most significant difference was at the 485-yard 5th hole, which played as a par-5 for the VR field but as a par-4 for the PGA TOUR.
GOLF+ TOUR Rankings Heading into BMW Championship
After the first week of the VR FedExCup Playoffs presented by Mastercard, WKingg remains atop the Pro Tour rankings following a T-4 finish. On the Amateur Tour, OG_CraigWrub continues to lead, with terrytheturtle.8889 jumping three spots to second place after a win at TPC Southwind.
This week's stop at Castle Pines Golf Club for the VR BMW Championship brings a 2x point multiplier towards the overall GOLF+ TOUR Rankings, followed by a 3x multiplier next week at the VR TOUR Championship. There's still plenty of potential for movement as we approach the crowning of the VR TOUR Champion!
