A New Update to a Historic Site

The current edition of The Hay opened in 2021 after Tiger Woods and TGR Design team came in and reimagined the short course, however the land it sits on had been a fixture at Pebble Beach since 1957.

The original Peter Hay Golf Course was named after the longtime Pebble Beach golf professional who played a crucial role in establishing the resort as a golfing haven. Originally opened in 1957, the course was the first par-3 golf course in America associated with a resort. It was designed to introduce newcomers to the game and provide a relaxing, shorter round for seasoned players.

Recognizing the unique charm and historical significance of this site, Pebble Beach Company enlisted the TGR Design team to breathe new life into the course. The result is a dynamic layout that honors the legacy of Peter Hay while offering a modern and accessible golfing experience.

Short, Sweet and Scenic

The Hay features nine par-3 holes, each with its own character and challenge. While the longest hole stretches to just 106 yards, don't be fooled by the short distances; strategic bunkering, elevation changes, and undulating greens demand precision and creativity. One of the standout features is the replica of Pebble Beach's iconic 7th hole, offering a taste of the legendary shot that has tested many of the game's greatest players.

The course is perfect for all skill levels, from beginners taking their first swings to seasoned golfers looking for a quick, enjoyable round. Families, friends, and even non-golfers can enjoy the course, with its relaxed atmosphere and stunning ocean views providing a memorable outing.

A Complete Experience

Adjacent to the course is The Hay's 20,000-square-foot putting course, inspired by the playful nature of the game and designed for all ages. This putting course is a unique feature that allows for endless variations and challenges, making it a hit with kids and adults alike.

Pebble Beach Resort has long been synonymous with luxury, heritage, and world-class golf. With the addition of The Hay, the resort has extended its appeal to a broader audience, providing an inviting gateway to the sport. It's a place where tradition meets modern design, where the beauty of the Monterey Peninsula enhances every shot, and where every visitor can find their own connection to the game.
