For the first time, GOLF+ and The R&A are bringing an official VR Open experience to the GOLF+ TOUR.
We’ve got some big news.
For the first time, GOLF+ and The R&A are bringing an official VR Open experience to the GOLF+ TOUR.
That means Royal Birkdale is coming to GOLF+ on July 8, and one week later players from around the world will tee it up in the VR Open alongside one of the biggest weeks in golf.
And yes, we’ve got a pretty incredible prize lined up as well.
Win a VIP Trip to St Andrews
One lucky participant will win the ultimate Open experience.
The Grand Prize winner will receive a VIP trip for two to The 155th Open at St Andrews in 2027, including Championship tickets and hospitality access for both the winner and a guest.
Entry into the Grand Prize drawing will be open to all GOLF+ players that compete in the VR Open. Additional details regarding eligibility and entry requirements will be announced soon.
Play Royal Birkdale During Open Week
Royal Birkdale has hosted some of the most memorable championships in golf history, and now it’s coming to GOLF+.
When the course launches on July 8, you’ll be playing much more than a standard course release. Royal Birkdale will feature championship-inspired enhancements throughout the property, including grandstands, spectator areas, and Championship branding designed to reflect the atmosphere of Open week in Southport.
When The 154th Open begins, you’ll be able to experience the same venue that the world’s best players are tackling on one of golf’s biggest stages.
For the first time, GOLF+ will host an official Open Championship experience.
Compete in the VR Open
Beginning July 16, players will compete in the VR Open as part of the GOLF+ TOUR.
Like all GOLF+ TOUR events, the tournament will run from Thursday through Wednesday, giving players a full week to complete their rounds and compete against golfers from around the world.
Whether you’re chasing the leaderboard, battling friends, or simply looking to test your game on one of the world’s great links courses, this is your chance to be part of the Championship week in GOLF+.
Experience GOLF+ at The Open
If you’re attending The 154th Open in person this year, you’ll also be able to experience GOLF+ on-site.
We’ll have activations located at both The Dunes House hospitality pavilion overlooking the 15th green and 16th tee as well as The Open campsite area, giving fans the opportunity to step inside GOLF+ and experience Royal Birkdale in virtual reality during Championship week.
New to GOLF+?
If you’ve been following our coverage of The Open and are looking for a way to get involved, now is the perfect time to jump in.
From June 23 through July 15, anyone who purchases a Meta Quest headset bundle through our online store will receive Royal Birkdale at no additional cost when it launches on July 8.
That means you’ll be ready to play Royal Birkdale on day one and compete in the VR Open when Championship play begins on July 16.
