Recapping the VR BMW Championship

One week remains before a VR TOUR Champion is crowned.

Recapping the VR BMW Championship
Castle Pines proved to be a difficult test in the VR BMW Championship.

Castle Pines Golf Club, the challenging venue for last week's VR BMW Championship, truly lived up to its reputation as the longest course to ever host a PGA TOUR event. The course proved its difficulty, with only 20 players on the Pro Diamond Tour finishing under par for the week, and all four rounds played over par. Let’s dive into how the competition unfolded in the Diamond Tier of both Tours.

World No. 1 Dominates

Following a T-4 finish in Week 1 of the VR FedExCup Playoffs presented by Mastercard, the top-ranked player on the Pro Tour, WKingg, solidified his position at the top by cruising to a victory at Castle Pines. WKingg set the tone with an opening round of 65, followed by an impressive 11-under 61 in Round 2, leading to a dominant wire-to-wire win.

TopherJaims, the second-ranked player on the Pro Tour and winner of the VR FedEx St. Jude Championship, made a strong charge up the leaderboard with a final round 61, securing a solo second-place finish and holding on to the No. 2 spot in the rankings as they head into the VR TOUR Championship.

As the competition moves to East Lake for this week's finale, WKingg holds a 1,343-point lead over TopherJaims.

First Time Winner emerges on Amateur Tour

After 36 holes at Castle Pines, two players began to pull away at the top of the Amateur Diamond Tour leaderboard. Dalboz and JackBoldt each opened with stellar rounds of 61 and 60, respectively, establishing a three-shot lead at the halfway mark.

Dalboz, the sixth-ranked player on the Amateur Tour and fresh off a third-place finish at the St. Jude Championship, had a prime opportunity to make a strong push for the top ranking with a win. However, it was the fast-rising JackBoldt, who earned their spot in the Diamond Tier back in May, that surged ahead. With a third-round 61, JackBoldt took a two-shot lead into the final round. Ranked 30th in the GOLF+ TOUR standings entering the week, JackBoldt held on to defeat Dalboz by one stroke, claiming their first career Diamond Tier weekly crown.

With this victory, JackBoldt vaulted 24 spots in the rankings to sixth, while Dalboz climbed three spots to third as they head into the VR TOUR Championship.
