The VR TOUR Champions have been crowned
The VR FedExCup Playoffs presented by Mastercard have officially concluded, and we're thrilled to announce our VR TOUR Champions for both the Pro and Amateur Tours! Read more to discover who claimed the crown on each tour.
WKingg leaves no doubt on Pro Tour
After a T-4 finish by World No. 1, WKingg, at TPC Southwind in the first leg of the playoffs, the TOUR Champion spot on the Pro Tour was still up for grabs. A victory at Castle Pines extended WKingg's overall lead in the GOLF+ TOUR standings to more than 1,300 points over second-ranked TopherJaims. However, with a 3x point multiplier at East Lake, the top-ranked player would still need a strong performance to secure the title...
...and a strong performance it was! WKingg surged to an early three-shot lead with an opening round of 61, followed by back-to-back rounds of 62 in rounds 2 and 3. Holding a three-shot lead over TopherJaims heading into the final round, WKingg strung together a trio of birdies on holes 6, 7, and 8 before carding his first bogey of the tournament at the demanding par-3 9th. A closing 32 on the back nine was more than enough to clinch the VR TOUR Championship for the world's top-ranked player.
This win marked WKingg's sixth weekly victory in the last 11 tournaments.
From 5th to 1st for terrytheturtle.8889
The Amateur Tour race was much tighter, with the final outcome not decided until the last moments of tournament week.
OG_CraigWrub entered the final week of the Playoffs with a 1,100-point lead in the GOLF+ TOUR standings over No. 2 terrytheturtle.8889. Positions 3 through 7 were all within 500 points of second place, and with the 3x multiplier at East Lake, a win could have propelled any of those players into the top spot.
terrytheturtle.8889 opened strongly, tied for the lead after the first two rounds, sitting two shots ahead of OG_CraigWrub and three up on Pokervane, who entered the week ranked 5th and dominated the Daily Tournaments with four wins.
In the third round, terrytheturtle.8889 and Pokervane each carded rounds of 60, while OG_CraigWrub posted a 61, falling three shots behind the leaders.
Needing a spark on the back nine, terrytheturtle.8889 began the closing stretch with three consecutive birdies and followed with an eagle on the par-5 14th. Despite a bogey at the challenging 17th, they rebounded with a clutch birdie on the final hole, which proved to be the championship-winning putt.
terrytheturtle.8889 entered the three-week playoff ranked 5th overall, but a win at TPC Southwind and a T-1 finish at East Lake was enough to overcome the deficit and capture the VR TOUR Champion title on the Amateur Tour.
Final entries into VR FedExCup Playoffs Mastercard Moment Sweepstakes are set
Thirty new players earned their entry into the Grand Prize drawing for a trip to the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill Golf Club. Congratulations to all 90 players who earned their entry throughout the three playoff events!
GOLF+, in partnership with Mastercard, will conduct the Grand Prize Drawing on Friday, September 6, and winners will be notified following the selection.
How will the Grand Prize Drawing be conducted?
Each of the 90 entries will be randomly assigned a number (1-90). Using a random number generator, five (5) finalists will be selected. If any of the five finalists do not meet the eligibility requirements (U.S. citizen and over the age of 18), those winners will receive a secondary GOLF+ prize pack.
